Ours began in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where we met, fell in love, and got married in 2012. We didn’t have much in those early days, but we had a vision: to create a tea company that would bring joy, beauty, and transformation into people’s lives.

That same year, we tried to make it real. With bulk herbs, twine-wrapped craft paper bags, and our very first homemade blend, we launched Butterfly Tea Co. to our friends and family. The tea was heartfelt, but the truth was—we knew nothing about business, marketing, or what it would take to grow a dream. And yet, the dream never left us.

Over the next decade, life shaped us. Ashleigh pursued her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, always holding onto the bigger vision of creating a business that could one day provide a safe, supportive workplace for teen mothers. She earned her degree in 2022 and has since dedicated herself to helping families thrive.

Johnny followed his own path into technology and mobile development, earning his bachelor’s in 2019 and a master’s in 2021. He built a career teaching and mentoring others in tech—discovering along the way just how much growth comes from experience, community, and encouragement.

Now, in 2025, the dream has come full circle. With over a decade of learning, mentorship, and experience—plus the power of new creative tools—we’re relaunching Butterfly Tea Co. stronger than ever. We’ve crafted five unique, whimsical tea blends that reflect not only the beauty of tradition but also the magic of imagination.

But selling tea is just the beginning. Our vision is still as bold as it was in 2012: to create something that uplifts others. In time, Butterfly Tea Co. will grow into tea party experiences for our community and, ultimately, into a business that offers teen mothers meaningful work, mentorship, therapy, friendship, and love.

Because to us, tea is more than a drink—it’s a chance to connect, to transform, and to share hope. Just like the butterfly, what starts small can take flight in the most beautiful way.
